Pairwise is offering a personality test to help companies determine which employment candidates have characteristics similar to their executives and high performers. They present images to test-takers, and ask them to make pairwise comparisons about which they prefer.
TechCrunch covered a recent Pairwise project to evaluate applicants for a startup incubator. (Kudos to them for discussing how Pairwise uses naive Bayesian inference to link image preferences with specific characteristics.)
Although it's an interesting product, it will be tough for this to amount to much once the dust settles. Will employers be able to define success for these tests? Assuming they can, will they actually be able to produce evidence that they were successful? And finally, will startups, VCs, or big employers really take the time to develop longitudinal data showing which supposed characteristics best describe their top performers?
